Same Sex School
Do you believe that creating same sex schools will reduce or eliminate underachievement among our secondary school students in Trinidad and Tobago? Share your thoughts.
Right now I am so dissapointed with education in T&T I am seriously thinking of homeschooling my older son. Anyway that's another topic. You can probably do something on home schooling in T&T in the future. Anyway back to the topic. I think that same sex education must have some benefits. I'm sure there is enough research out there to prove or disprove this. However, I think that unless we understand and get to the root of the problems with the education system here it T&T we will only be grasping at straws and quick fixes. So you separate the boys from the girls then what? You still have an education system that does little to stimulate learning and education that is relevant in the 21st century. Tell me how can this significantly impact student achievement?
Gsil-Ann I could not agree with you more. Our approach to the education system is to treat the symptoms rather than try to find out what the problems. The time has come for us to critically analyse the system - ojectively, thoroughly and systematically with the goals of finding what works and what does not, before applying solutions. If we don't know what the problem is, how can we fix it.
